When Hosanna Met the Cross

Good morning, and Happy Easter!  I was inspired to write the following in church a couple weeks back.  We sang a song that had Hosanna in it, and it got me into a line of thinking about it.  Then our pastor preached on the Triumphal Entry! I reckon that was enough of a push for me to write a poem while it was on my mind.  Here is the finished version, I hope it resonates with you as much as it does with me.
Thank you!
(oh btw, the picture i had ai create because I don't draw, but everything else is fully mine)

Hosanna! A Battle Cry. The Lord doth see fit to die. My sins were fought,  My Jesus won. The triumphal entry, The beginning of the end. For but a few days later, He hung upon a cross to die. He held all the power Yet chose the nails. My sins are paid, I have been bought with blood.

Hosanna!

Blessed is the One,

The King of Israel.

Our sins gained us nothing,

Still, we run from Him.

Yet now I turn and follow,

My sins forgiven.

Rejoice!

The Hope of humanity,

The Star of the Morn,

The Lion of Judah,

The Great I AM,

Loves me with an everlasting love.

Hosanna!

The anguish of His soul,

The Blood poured out

Justice satisfied

When Jesus cried, “It is finished!”

The veil was torn,

The dead were raised.

He bore my transgressions

To ransom my soul.

Hosanna! Rejoice!

It is finished!
