Heal our Land
Happy Independence Day!
This week is the week we celebrate 249 years of freedom!! We are the Land of the Free and Home of the Brave. Our military has fought for 249 years to keep our freedom, and thousands have died to protect us.
Our Founding Fathers believed in Genesis 1. IN THE BEGINNING, GOD. The declaration states it just as clearly. "We hold these truths to be self-evident. That all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness." Everyone is equal. He didn't make a certain color or race. He made HIS children.
Our faith is in Christ alone.
All men need to be saved, and our Founding Fathers knew this.
Four times in the Declaration of Independence, God is mentioned. "Endowed by their Creator", "We, therefore, the Representatives of the United States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions,.....", "The Seperate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them,", "And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance of the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor."
The Founding Fathers KNEW God ruled this world. They acknowledged it MORE THAN ONCE.
The Declaration of Independence was signed by: 25 lawyers, 4 doctors, 1 minister, 11 merchants, 7 were planters, 1 scientist, and 7 public servants (judges, surveyors, etc.).
5 were captured and tortured to death by the British, 12 had their homes ransacked and burned, 2 lost their sons in the war, and 9 died from the war, from wounds or hardships.
Our Founding Fathers sacrificed everything for our freedom. Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We are in that generation to keep our people free.
But, we must remember that we are only free through God's will. We need to have Godly Patriotism.
Daniel in the Bible is an excellent example of Godly Patriotism.
1. A Godly Patriot reads God's Word. As Daniel did in Daniel 9:2. He is reading books. And we can see from Jeremiah 25:12 (as a cross reference) that what Daniel was reading was Jeremiah's prophecy.
2. A Godly Patriot responds to God in prayer. Daniel 9:3-4. Resolution is determination. Determined to go to God and hear from Him. We have not because we ask not. Don't be afraid to ask God for big things because He is the Almighty. We can never ask for something too big from Him. Daniel 6:10 shows us Daniel is RESOLUTE to pray to God. 3 times a day. So much he was persecuted for it. James 5:16 shows us this in the New Testament. Another verse is 1 Timothy 2:1-3. Prayer is good. Imagine Daniel is praying for everything and including the glory of God.
3. A Godly Patriot receives God's Guidance. Psalm 37:22 Stay in God's word and prayer. Being faithful, His work is never in vain. In Christ, sin ends. Righteousness is given.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. Psalm 33:12
To know Christ is to know freedom. Without Christ, there is no freedom.
Our freedom is not based on man, but on God. And God alone. God gave us our freedom in 1776 and has allowed us to keep it. Praise Him!!
