The Man and the Teachings of Arius
Good (almost) Weekend Y'all and Happy (almost) Independence DAY!!! My brother is starting an evangelism ministry and I am his editor/co-writer. Here is an article that he wrote and I edited. I will be posting these periodically as he writes them:) Thanks 😁
You might be thinking “Who was Arius?” I get that, there are not a lot of people who know this man. I didn’t either until I started doing research when I heard his name. Here in this article, you can get some valuable information about this man, and learn along with me.
Arius was born in 256
A.D. in Ptolemais, Cyrenaica, Roman Empire (modern-day Tolmeita), and died in
336, in Constantinople. He was a priest
and was at the Council of Nicene. That
in and of itself does not make him famous, but what made him famous--what made
him known--was his teachings.
Arius believed that Christ was the Son of God, but he did not share the same
deity (as to what now is called the Trinity) as God the Father, when the Bible
specifically says, “In the beginning was the Word (Word meaning Christ Jesus),
and the Word was with God, and the Word was God [1].” A man began to expose
this man and his false doctrine to other people, and his name was Pope
Alexander. Alexander began to expose
Arius’ false teachings and because of that, Arius had appealed to Constantine
to exile this, Pope. Now, Constantine
may have defended the Christian faith against persecution and so many people
think he was a Christian, but he was not.
“Some have suggested that it was Constantine who was responsible for
putting the New Testament together with selected works of his choosing. But historical facts lay that theory to
rest. Others have posited that
Constantine made up the divinity of Christ and ratified this new theology at
the Council of Nicaea. But the Bible
writers and their works, which predate Constantine, clearly are simply not
true. What is true is that Constantine
the Great made Christianity popular.
It’s also true that he joined church and state, then used force to
punish those who would not toe the line of his Christian government. Finally, it’s true that Constantine paved the
way for the rise of a religious Roman government that would prove to be
horrific for many years. [2]”
Arius went to the emperor
and tempted the emperor to exile Alexander, which was successful, but it was
wrong. Like so many Christians around
the world today, we are all trying to expose truth, and we are all being
persecuted worldwide. Now, don’t get me
wrong. This isn’t new. Even Christ 2,000 years ago, said that. “Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you,
and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my
sake. [3]” “Rejoice and be exceeding
glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets
which were before you. [4]” “But before all these,
they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the
synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my
name’s sake. [5]”
So, it is not and will never be new.
People like Alex Jones and Owen Shroyer, and many others in other
countries, are being persecuted right now for doing the same thing. Defending truth. In the end, Arius’ teachings
rose up to the name of Arianism.
A word of caution. If you are a true Christian, watch out for
those who are teaching false doctrine.
If you expose them, they will persecute you. In the end though, after this life is over,
if you truly believe, we have assurance and a promise, that you will no longer
see those scars. Do not accept the
teachings and doctrines of false teachers, but only, defend the true
truth. The fact that Jesus was the Son
of God, and is God himself, that he died and bled for you on that Ol’ Rugged
Cross, then rose three days later defeating death. So, take courage and be of good cheer, for
Christ will come like a thief in the night, and take away his beloved church
from this sin-stained world! “Rejoice
and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted
they the prophets which were before you. [6]”
